| Welcome
to the the Home page of the Business Woman's Golf Association of Long Island!
The
Business Women's Golf Association of L.I. was established in the spring of 1995
and to date membership has grown to over 500 business and professional women throughout
Nassau and Suffolk Counties. In
1995 we started our first league, the response was so overwhelming that The following
year two additional afternoon twilight leagues and a two Saturday morning league
were formed. Our organization gives the novice to advanced player the chance to
play on a regular basis, improve their game, build and develop confidence and
comfort on the golf course as well as an opportunity to network.

response to the needs of the working woman golfer, for this season there are:

LETS
PLAY READY GOLF In a continuing effort to keep
the pace of play here are some suggestions to follow: - When
leaving the tee walk directly to your ball. If you walk in the direction of the
flight of your ball it will be easier to find. Remember do not walk in front of
your group. When someone else is hitting you should be watching their ball. Ready
golf does not mean playing a half a hole in front of your group.
- Keep
your cart with you at all times. Walking back to get your cart slows up play.
When you reach the green place your cart past the flag towards the next tee. Do
not leave your cart in front of the green !
- As
soon as your group has finished putting, replace the flag and go to the next tee.
Do your scorecards there. If your group has fallen behind the first two (of the
foursome) to putt out, should go to the next tee and hit.
- At
the next tee BE READY have your club in hand. As soon as the group in front of
you is out of range hit. Let your group know you are hitting so they can watch
your ball.
- On the Par 3's, if the group
behind you is waiting to hit, WAVE THEM UP -when all of you have reached the green,
walk to the back of the green and wave them up. The flag remains in until the
group behind you has finished teeing off. When they are done, pull the flag and
putt out. Replace the flag and go to the next tee. This also helps your pace of
play, ( you may not have to wait on the next hole). If a ball from the group behind
you lands on the green and is in your putting line, mark it to putt out and replace
it. This is not an option this is a league rule.
- Golf
is a game that requires concentration, so please keep socializing on the course
to a minimum. When someone is hitting, on the tee, fairway or green please no
talking. For many of us, hearing voices in the background is distracting.
Many
other things can speed up play as well. Here are a few other suggestions: - Be
prepared to hit. Select the club you will need while someone else is hitting.
Walk to your ball with club-in-hand.
- When
you finish putting don't put your clubs back in your bag at the green, wait until
you get to the next tee, put your putter, wedge back in your bag and take out
the club you will be using to tee off.
- Carry
an extra ball in your pocket, if you are unable to find your ball, you have one
with you to drop. Also when looking for your ball have the club you will be using
in your hand.
- Keep an extra tee or two in
your pocket. How many times have you walked up to tee off and realized you did
not have a tee. Walking back and forth slows up play.
Please
take note - THE DOUBLE PAR PLUS ONE RULE- means you must pick
up your ball and go to the next tee when you reach the maximum strokes. This
does not mean hit the ball 12, 13, 14 etc., times and write down 7.Also
not all the strokes must be taken in the fairway. If you are having a bad hole
save 2-3 stroke for on and around the green. A
DELAY OF 1 MINUTE PER PLAYER ON EACH HOLE ADDS 30 MINUTES TO OUR ROUND OF GOLF.
GOLF
SHOULD BE FUN - INCREASE THAT FUN BY PLAYING REASONABLY FAST!
| Please
make sure you arrive 20 minutes prior to your scheduled tee time. You must be
ready to tee off, not arriving at the golf course. In the event of a cancellation
you may be moved up . If you are late you will be moved back to the next available
group (this maybe the last group). Come back soon for more information about
the rules of the Business Woman's Golf League.
